Long cooperation with EnerKey has brought annual savings of 5 million euros
Kesko has been part of the energy efficiency agreement since the year of 2008. The purpose of the agreement is to meet the international standards of sustainable development against the climate change. Kesko achieved all the set goals by the end of 2016, and is also involved in the new contract period, which runs until 2025. With the new contract period the aim is to save at least 7,5% of the energy consumption. Social responsibility is one of Kesko’s strategic cornerstones. The sustainable production and utilisation of energy minimises the environmental impacts.
-Energy saving is one of the key factors in the fight against climate change. In energy saving measures Kesko is amongst the forerunners. We are in good pace in achieving our goals, tells Kesko’s Director of Corporate Responsibility Matti Kalervo.
– We want to be involved in building a better society. Our customers can visit K-markets in with confidence, whether it was fish selection, lighting or the energy consumption of refrigeration equipment.
Kalervo describes the savings of more than 5 million already achieved as a win-win situation.
-We are saving money and the environment.
Osuuskauppa Arina operates purposefully and considers sustainability
Osuuskauppa Arina joined in for EnerKey’s services amongst the first ones within S-group in 2016. The rest of the S-Group followed in Arina’s footsteps two years later. Arina utilises energy management set that includes energy reporting and -management tools, energy bill management, cost reporting and tenant billing services.
“The processing of energy bills and tenant billing was natural choice to centralise on EnerKey SaaS, due to it having energy data management and further processing at its core. Ready-made, automated processes built on energy information have not only unified the operating model related to energy bills but have made our internal work significantly more efficient.
Energy bill processing and tenant billing are done smoothly and on schedule – and most importantly: we can focus on our core business,” tells Asko Lehto, Property Manager.
Wihuri wants to promote energy efficiency
EnerKey helps Wihuri to rationalise their energy use, particularly in places where electricity consumption is high. According to Wihuri Group’s Property Manager Timo Numminen, the company’s total energy consumption in Finland is 90 GWh. Electricity use forms most of the consumption at 72%.
“Wihuri can significantly increase its energy efficiency. The official intermediate target for 2020 is 4%, which we will achieve easily. Our own goal is tougher. The packaging industry also has the greatest potential for electricity savings. Production generates a lot of heat, the recovery of which can be further enhanced.
We also recover heat in Metro wholesales, where heat is produced especially by large cold storages. The packaging industry employs its own maintenance staff, who handle energy issues related to the property in an exemplary manner. However, EnerKey as an external brings new knowledge and expertise to further improve energy efficiency. In energy management and reporting services, we utilise EnerKey SaaS.
My experiences with EnerKey’s previous services have been positive. The Energy Manager cooperation has also been successful as expected,” sums up Numminen.
