EG EnerKey´s built-in intelligence feature, Ines, automatically finds energy and emissions saving potentials from property consumption data.
EG EnerKey is introducing an intelligent, virtual energy and sustainability manager who can tirelessly unearth potential savings from consumption data with the help of artificial intelligence. Ines or INtelligence for Energy and Sustainability management is an intelligence built into EG EnerKey that automatically finds energy saving potentials in properties.
In the first phase, Ines analyzes properties based on hourly consumption profiles and detects the properties where the ventilation time programs are not optimized or in use. Ines also automatically calculates the savings potential if the time programs were in order. In the future, Ines will develop, expanding its area of operation while automatically finding new, different energy and emission-saving potentials.

EG Ines – Intelligent energy and sustainability manager
Heating consumption analytics divides the heating energy into three parts: Water heating, ventilation heating, and baseload. Ines checks if the levels of each part are on the right level compared to similar buildings. For anomalous values Ines tells the most probable reason of this and how to correct the situation. Service is going to have also wind – consumption analysis which will reveal building’s airtightness level.

Heating power analytics analyses and benchmarks the heating setpoint of the building and the maximum power at the rated outdoor temperature. It also checks the cooling of the district heating water is at the right level at different outdoor temperatures. The water flow of district heating is analyzed and exceptions in water flow are pointed out. The electric heating in non-electric heated buildings is analyzed to discover unnecessary electric heating.

Ventilation analytics suggests right time schedules for ventilation in each facility. Ines is able to tell the occupation times from water data and the analyse ventilation on/off hours from energy data. If there is something to optimize in ventilation hours, the energy, cost and CO2-savings are calculated and visualized automatically. Ines suggests schedules for weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and week-day-holidays.

Smart benchmarking compares the energy use and key-figures of energy use to similar buildings to the whole EnerKey database of over 20 000 facilities. It is easy to pinpoint from data the buildings that are not performing well compared to other similar buildings and to find out the probable causes of such behavior. Smart Benchmarking includes several analysis types depending on energy type and analyzed time of year.

We all are saving with Ines

Systems are working correctly
”We get assurance that systems are working correctly. EG Ines releases experts’ time to solve problems and it saves both working time and enables fixing issues quickly,” Antti Kokkonen, K-group Building Service Manager.
EG Ines found optimizations
”I’m extremely excited: Ines found optimizations for ventilation time programs and proposed new setting for those based on the measurement data,” Aki Paavola, Maintenance manager, S-Pankki Kiinteistöt Ltd.
EG Ines found quickly a facility where ventilation time program setting was wrong
”EG Ines found quickly a facility where ventilation time program setting was wrong. Ventilation was still in a boost mode how was set after renovations project. This caused an unnecessary consumption of 15 000 €/a when ventilation was on full power also outside occupation hours,” City of Lahti, Facility department.
City of Riihimäki: With the help of Ines we save 9,000 € annually
“With EG EnerKey’s new built-in intelligence called EG Ines, we discovered and were able to optimize the ventilation operating times of our properties.
We only achieved annual savings of around € 9,000 by optimizing operating times,” says Eero Takala, HVAC expert, City of Riihimäki.
